Montana Giving Project Grants

Gallatin Valley Human Rights Task Force (Bozeman, MT) $7,100 The mission of GVHRTF is to Montana's Gallatin Valley a better home for us all by promoting, defending and securing the full range of human rights for each of us. The grant will fund a project that builds upon established community partnerships with Montana State University's Salud y Comunidad's Community Advisory Board, Montana State University, Border Crossing Law Firm, Montana Human Rights Network, Community Health Partners and Rural Employment Opportunities to plan and implement five "Know Your Rights" forums, three legal clinics, a legal needs assessment survey, and a legal resource guide in partnership with Mexican migrant community members to promote migrant justice in Gallatin County.

Opening Doors (Great Falls, MT) $7,100 Founded in 2005, Opening Doors supports ex-prisoners in successful re-entry into society after incarceration and supports positive family and social environments for ex-prisoners and their families. Opening Doors works to equip each person with the tools, skills and knowledge that will enable them to reach their full potential and move beyond the past. Funds will be used for general operating expenses and project costs associated with organizing and educating the community to eliminate the housing barrier and increase re-entry success for ex-prisoners.

Native Action (Lame Deer, MT) $7,100 Founded in 1984 by members of the Northern Cheyenne Indian Tribe, Native Action has established itself as a leading model for citizen empowerment on Indian Reservations, bridging the racial, socio-economic, and environmental barriers by empowering, challenging, and educating people in order to protect the environment and enhance the quality of life for future generations. Native Action works to protect the homeland of the Cheyenne people and the surrounding area of the Powder River Basin in southeastern Montana from coal strip-mines, railroads, coal-bed methane gas wells, and underground water drainage, while elevating youth leadership in policy decisions. This grant will provide general operating support.
