In 2008, the Social Justice Fund made a Sponsored Program Fund grant to the Progressive Communicators Network to enable a number of our grantees to create digital stories --- short, personal stories that can explain difficult political issues. All the videos were created by member-leaders of grassroots groups, and all are less than four minutes. This month we would like to share one of the videos with our members.

We are pleased to announce the recipients of our 2008 Cultural Grant awards. Cultural Grants are awards of up to $7,500 for social change organizations that are building power and promoting progressive ideas through culture and art.

Following an extremely competitive decision-making process, SJF’s Cultural Grant committee selected eight organizations to receive grants.

Happy New Year!  Here at Social Justice Fund we’re greeting 2009 as a year of change and opportunity. This year we are introducing a special new grantmaking initiative to support groups working for change through electoral organizing and public policy campaigns.  This special initiative will build upon the inspiring organizing for change that was accomplished in the 2008 elections.  We also have a new staffperson and two new board members who are bringing new energy and leadership to SJF. I am pleased to introduce them to you.
