Em Bookstein

Originally from California, Em was deeply influenced by Resource Generation’s political education on class privilege and wealth redistribution. When they moved to Portland in 2014 to take a software engineering job, it was with a side agenda to move tech money into organizing. Em also led the Portland chapter of Resource Generation for 5 years, mobilizing young people with wealth to donate and take action for racial and social justice. As a member of 2 giving projects with Social Justice Fund NW, they learned about the incredible work of SJF grantees and how to fundraise with social justice principles. Em is now a Development Manager at Next Up, a youth organizing nonprofit in Portland. They love book clubs, sci-fi shows, dog snuggles and karaoke. Go-to karaoke song: Tik Tok by Kesha.
