Join us for a free workshop open to people who are Black, Indigenous, and people of color on aligning your giving with social justice movement work on Saturday, May 14 from 2-4PM PST. From mutual aid to rising collectives to urgent fundraisers, many of us have upped our giving over the past few years. Giving can be a powerful strategy to support social justice movement work, but it brings up questions like…

  • How do you decide where to give and how much?
  • Does the urgency of the current moment change the way you give?
  • How do you give money without reinforcing oppressive dynamics?

Led by members of Seattle Donors of Color in partnership with Social Justice Fund, this interactive, cross-class workshop open to people who are Black, Indigenous, and people of color will help you begin to think through these questions, and get you on the path to a giving plan that challenges you while aligning you toward social justice values. We’ll have plenty of time for discussion and offer resources that can help you move toward action, take time to reflect, learn from others, and come out ready to plan your giving.

We are committed to making our online event spaces accessible. Please let us know how we can support your access needs, including the use of captioning, ASL interpretation, and more. Click here to email Burke with questions and request.

Why is this event for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) only? We know that many spaces in our society (and in Seattle in particular) are overwhelmingly white, and a BIPOC-only space can be an affirming and strengthening experience for vital work. White allies, thanks for understanding the need for this BIPOC space. For white folks who have questions or would like to organize with other white people, please contact Burke Stansbury at burke@socialjusticefund.org.
