Black Liberation is the future. Is there a place for philanthropy in it?
Though philanthropy is largely a white dominated sector, many grassroots movements were funded by Black people and continue to be resourced by folks working on the ground. Black folks have long cultivated strategies to ensure their communities can access basic needs and are equipped to combat white supremacy.
This event will examine trends in Black participants’ experiences in SJF’s fundraising programs. We will also explore questions around how to support Black folks in fundraising and learning spaces. SJF will be sharing out learnings/trends from our internal review of Giving Project data as a way of being transparent and accountable on how we are working on eradicating anti-Blackness internally.
Participants are invited to discuss how they navigate learning spaces as Black folks, what it means to center Blackness, and what investing in Black Liberation looks like.
**Open to descendants of the African Diaspora (Black, African, African-American, Afro-Caribbean etc)**
