From Outgoing Program Director Yasmeen Perez:
Joey Lopez
Joey Lopez

“It’s with great pleasure that I introduce you to Joey Lopez, SJF’s new Program Director!

Joey comes to SJF by way of North Carolina. Joey has spent many years organizing communities in Chicago, Detroit, and across North Carolina. He most recently worked coordinating a coalition in NC that formed as a direct response to the notorious NC House Bill 2. The coalition works through a lens of racial and gender justice mobilizing LGBTQ people of faith and their allies to speak up and take action in their local communities and at the state legislature to make NC just and inclusive for all.

‘If I have learned anything during my years of organizing, it is that we are most powerful when those most impacted are leading our movements! I also have seen the impact of what happens when our movements are working together for collective liberation. I am excited to be joining the SJF team and to be a part of strengthening and resourcing the frontlines of our movements for social justice,’ Joey says.

I can’t wait for you to meet Joey, who not only brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm but also a lot of joy to SJF’s work.

Thank you for making my time at SJF so incredible. Today is my last day, but I look forward to staying connected and seeing you at the Annual Dinner in October! If you’d like to stay in touch, please do! My email is
