Social Justice Fund Northwest (SJF) is proud to launch our 2026-2030 Strategic Plan. Through this plan we have created actionable steps to embody our mission, vision, and values guided by our theme of agitating philanthropy.

The theme of “agitating philanthropy” is a resounding call to reintroduce and remind our industry that our work must be about disrupting traditional norms, operating through a lens of transparency while uplifting communities who are most impacted by oppressive structures.

Our Pillars

Resource Mobilization

Over this five-year plan, SJF commits to moving at least $20 million to community organizing across our region by:

  • Increasing individual fundraising through donor organizing and special campaigns (like our 50th!).
  • Growing and deepening impact in rural areas (especially in the Mountain West) to move new and increased funds throughout the region.

Accessibility

We will increase accessibility to SJF’s grantmaking programs by:

  • Increasing community feedback and participation to strengthen our programs,
  • Updating, refining, and engaging with current and new grantmaking tools,
  • Improving external engagement and awareness of SJF’s mission through events and communications to reach our community.

Infrastructure Strengthening

By strengthening SJF’s internal capacity to actualize our mission and vision we will:

  • Developing strategic and abundant fund management proposals for our endowment, investments, restricted and unrestricted funds.
  • Strengthen alignment between organizational values and operational practices across SJF’s five-state funder region.

Community Stewardship

We will steward community partnerships through a cross-class, multiracial philanthropy model in order to:

  • Organize ourselves and our philanthropic peers to invest in community organizing, and interrupt extractive and harmful practices.
  • Agitate philanthropy through workshops, public speaking, and strategic communications to become a more anti-racist, liberatory and abundant sector.

How can you support SJF’s work through our strategic plan and beyond?
