2026 Sponsorship – $1,000
At Social Justice Fund Northwest (SJF), we utilize sponsorships as a way of building bridges. Our sponsorships are only available to recent and current SJF grantees (within the past two years) in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and/or Wyoming. We hope that organizations utilize this resource to fund their most ambitious, innovative projects that are often not supported by other funders.
Overview
Grant Awards: One-year sponsorship of $1,000
Focus: Ambitious and innovative projects that are often not supported by other funders in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and/or Wyoming.
Priority Consideration:
- Organizations led by Black, Indigenous, and people of color (51% or more leadership)
- Organizations conducting most of their work with reservation communities, and/or in rural or small towns (as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau)
- Organizations with annual budgets $500,000 USD or less
Application Open: Thursday, January 15, 2026
Application Deadline: Rolling, with the last decision-making meeting in November 2026
Types of Events We Sponsor
We are proud to support many types of community events including (but not limited to): fundraisers and galas for community-led organizations; cultural, community, and art events that bring people together based on region, personal identity, collective goals; collective action events including rallies, vigils, marches, or related; and gatherings or events working towards building power for disenfranchised or marginalized communities.
Timeline
- Please apply for sponsorship two to three months in advance of your event date
- Annual application opens: Thursday, January 15, 2026
- Application period: After January, applications are accepted from the first through the last day of each month.
- Application deadline: Rolling through November 2026
- Review process: Applications are reviewed and evaluated, and decisions are made in the following month.
- Grant award notifications: Sent at the end of the following month.
Example: If an application is submitted in March, it will be reviewed and evaluated during the first three weeks of April. The grantee can expect to hear back from SJF during the last week of April.
Eligibility
- Must be a recent/current grantee of SJF (within the past two years)
- Organizations and events or sponsored projects must be located in our five-state funder region (ID, MT, OR, WA, WY)
- Events must be open to the general public (by ticket purchase or registration)
- Only one sponsorship allowed per calendar year
- This grant can fund:
- Organizations with 501(c)(3) or 501 (c)(4) status as determined by the IRS
- Organizations that are fiscally sponsored by 501(c)(3) or 501 (c)(4) organizations or tribal governments/agencies
- SJF does not fund individuals, you must be an organized group of people
- We do not fund direct services unless they are connected to or intertwined with community organizing work
